Meditation Mondays: Day 18 Creative Me

Day 18 Creative Me

Play play play! When we play, we can let go of a challenge and engage in something that frees our mind, lightning strikes.

Play opens pathways for creativity to flow.  When we play we engage the heart rather than leading with our mind. When we let go, engage in pure play and laughter can the universe's message meet us. Be open and receptive to your life's purpose.  Cultivate your creativity through pure simple joy.

As adults, we get caught up in our responsibilities we forget to engage in play.  It may seem silly to some but there is something powerful about enjoying an activity freely, boundless, and worry free.

When we let go of our worries, our perceptions of the future, enjoy the present moment, the Universe will bring us answers.  Play is a time to engage in an activity which lifts your spirit.  Play is YOUR time to let your heart be full and let go of your worries and concerns. When we let go and have fun, we release our ego and all the "shoulds" and "can'ts" that flood our mind. Play is important in finding our purpose.

Rest and play are not luxuries, they are part of our being.  We cultivate some of our best ideas when we have a balance of rest and play. Rest is important.  (I cherish my rest and people tease me about being an old lady but I need my rest! This world is running me ragged, I do what I can to be my best self.) In our society, some people pride themselves on not getting enough rest, it makes them feel important that they have so many responsibilities they don't have time for themselves.  They have many dedications and responsibilities.  True dedication is balance.

Sometimes it's hard to follow our passions. The world has many distractions but in silence, in stillness, we can hear what our heart says. Even when life is hard, when we do things that light up our hearts, we are on the path on which we belong.

This life is the only life we will know.  Why not do the things that light up our life? Play more. Worry less.

Meditation Mondays: Day 17 Inspirational Me

Day 17 Inspirational Me
To learn what I'm posting, click here.

Inspiration can come from things we see or hear, experiences, even people; it's just that feeling we get that makes our spirit filled with warm energy. When something or someone makes us feel this way, they are our inspiration.  Inspiration makes us feel uplifted, it makes us feel there is so much more in this Universe to understand, to know, to love, to be than what we are right now.

Inspiration lifts us up to be a better us. Inspiration evokes passion, passion comes from love, love comes from our heart & soul telling us, "This is good. This is food for your soul!"

Inspiration fuels us to be better, to love stronger, to fly higher.

People who inspire us are special beings.  We all have something in us to inspire others.  Embrace the inspiration you are to others and embrace the inspiration of who others are to you.

The greatest inspirations come from feeling something we have never felt before. Gaining insight that changes our perspective is inspiration.  This is a new perspective for my understanding of inspiration but it is so true! Have you ever met someone and by being in their presence you feel an instant surge of positive energy, but you don't know why?  That's inspiration! Some people make us look at the world in a different way, not by forcing their perspectives on us but by just being who they are. Changing of perspective is good, we are allowed to change our perspectives-if we don't we will never grow, never be better.  Sometimes our ego makes us feel we must stick to what we know but through inspiration, understanding, and humility we can change our perspective which brings us closer to who we really are.

We can inspire others everyday through engaging fully in life, taking chances, loving with all our heart, accepting that life is up and down.  I love hearing when people go to new places or find new passions, that's inspiring.  It's the lack of fear which lets us live our greatest and most full life!  I want to live fully, full of happiness even despair.

You can be an inspiration to others and look around to those who inspire you.  What do they do that inspire you?  What about them inspires you?  Tell them, because how nice would it be for someone to share that with you.

I hope that you are all able to recognize the people and things that inspire you and just drown yourself in it.

Cimorelli Band for Subway

I worked with the Cimorelli girls on this Subway promo back in January and just found it online!

The Cimorelli Band is a singing group of 6 sisters, all very talented and a delight to be around.

Dahlia Foroutan (costume designer for Hannah Montana and My Wife and Kids) and I had so much fun styling the girls for this and for their new web series which will be releasing this summer, so watch out for that.

The girls have the cutest outfits in their summer series.  I'm really excited about watching it.  All the girls have their own distinct style and such sweet personalities; we had a great time creating so many different looks. I was coveting most of all of Lauren's closet, a girl after my own wardrobe heart.

How do you think they look?

My new favorite TV show: QUICK DRAW

Quick Draw is hilarious!!!

I don't watch that much television, probably because I do not own a TV but there are a few shows that I love watching and keep up with: SCANDAL (yes in all caps because it's dramatic like that), and The Colbert Report.  My favorite type of show to watch is a sitcom (probably even to work on) but there aren't that many that keep me engaged throughout episodes let alone through seasons.  Always Sunny in Philadelphia, along with The League are some favorites but they have such short seasons and it's hard to come by them as I do not own a television.  There are not that many shows that make me laugh out loud or that make me want to continue watching but Quick Draw has easily become my new favorite.

Watch a scene from my favorite episode! This episode had me dying!!

"I been out here 10 years!10 years!?" Hahahahaha.

It's a comedy exclusively on Hulu.com created by Nancy Hower and John Lehr, who plays the main character, Sheriff Hoyle in the show.  There's only 8 episodes but they all had me laughing out loud.  I think what makes it so funny and awkward is that it's set in the wild west circa the late 1800s with content of whores, murders, and racism but written in such a way we can't take any of it too seriously.  Production wise, it's a very well put together show, with beautiful costumes, sets, lighting, cinematography, alla that.

Let's take a minute to recognize how difficult this era is to costume and how beautiful and well put together everyone looks.  Beth Morgan who is listed as the costumer designer for this show also worked on The Help and Django Unchained so there you go, those are some serious films with beautiful work.

What struck me to share with you is that I was halfway through the first season and one of the actors, Bob Clendinin, who plays the town's undertaker on Quick Draw, was guest starring on the show I was working on.  He is also very funny in everything he is in. All the actors are great in their respective roles and they are all so attractive, men and women! Nick Brown who plays the deputy is very handsome and his character makes him so endearing and adorable!  Well done entire cast and crew of Quick Draw.  Thank you for making this show, it brightens my day. I look forward to more seasons.

Watch it here!

Meditation Mondays: Day 16 Uniquely Me

Day 16 Uniquely Me

To do your own meditations with Deepak, go here.

We all have a unique essential purpose.  There is no one like you.  Your life purpose is yours! And it's constantly changing. What lights up your spirit?  Let yourself enjoy living, while you are living. Do what speaks to your soul.  Embrace the good.  There's only a few things that truly lift our spirits, DO THOSE THINGS!

Do we not let ourselves be happy because there has been so much pain in the past?  Are we afraid?  If you love something, go for it.  Yes it will be hard, yes we don't know if it will be stable, yes it is uncertain. But you LOVE it, so go!  Love has a funny way of working everything out so we can live blissfully, as long as we are willing to let go.  Sometimes we put things away, hide them deep in ourselves because we don't want to feel pain or struggle.  Pain and struggle reminds us we are living. We have a soul.

When we are able to recognize our purpose we create a universe of peace, harmony and love, fullfilling our destiny to change the world for good.

The purpose of life is the expansion of happiness.
When we discover that which brings us the greatest joys we are on our way to our deepest truths.

Think about what you love to do, let that guide you. Let bliss be your guide, let love be your guide.
Follow your heart. PLEASE, let your soul live its purpose.  There are so many distractions in this world taking us further away from our truest self, take a moment and ask yourself what really makes you happy?  What brings your spirit the deepest joy and greatest happiness?

Meditation Mondays: Day 15 How Can I Serve?

Day 15 How Can I Serve?
To get a back story of what I'm posting, click here.
To do your own meditations with Deepak, go here.

It does not take money, education, sacrifice, a plan or anything more than your heart and soul to serve.  I've recently come to realize I am here to spread peace, love and understanding.  I didn't realize that through my daily life I have been of service. Smiles, hugs, hellos, how are yous, thank yous, doing things for others like I have been are all acts of service. I don't know why I do these things but I guess it's something that speaks from my heart.  I'm not going to try and figure it out but just let it be a part of who I am.

With spirit guiding the way, we are able to connect to who we REALLY are
and what we most truly seek.

When we act from our heart we serve.  We all have the ability but maybe our ego gets in the way.  We start to think only of ourselves and our benefits in each situation instead of just being, enjoying, and living.

Through our hearts we serve.  Serving others, serves me.

Our mindful moment this week is to share random acts of kindness.  Maybe you can smile, acknowledge people as they pass, tell someone how much you love and appreciate him/her; it only takes a moment but the feelings for you and the other creates a great impact and lasting impression.

The more we serve, the more serves us. The more heart we put out, the more heart we can receive.  Serve yourself by letting your heart speak to you.  Be still & listen.

Being grateful can be difficult sometimes.  We become complacent with our lives and forget that each day brings many things to be grateful for.  Being grateful for the good stuff is easy, it's the bad stuff that can be difficult to be grateful for. It's the bad stuff that takes a bit of silence, understanding and humility to be truly grateful for.  We cannot know for sure that current bad times will prepare us for better future times but we can be hopeful.
Only in a loss do we realize that we had something to lose.  Sometimes we forget that we have many things to be grateful for, possessions, people, experiences included. Being grateful in the presence keeps those good things in our lives and builds the energy for more goodness, but once something is gone we cannot always regain.

In gratitude, ego steps out of the way.
Gratitude opens us up to abundance and carries us to peace.

Take a moment to embrace and envision your gratitude. I'm sure there are many things, people, experiences you are grateful for.  Maybe you can try saying it aloud, or write it down.
